There will stronger penalties for those who leave their boats on the water.
A new law will establish new definitions and timetable for how long a boat can be abandoned on a river or lake. That includes making it a misdemeanor instead of a summary of offense.
Supporters of the bill say abandoned boats are becoming a growing problem and can pose a threat to public safety.
Officials say the boats can block water ways, have hazardous materials on them, and increased danger for first responders.
