Today, June 8, 2021, is the day that you can file your new unemployment claim online with the state’s newly revamped unemployment system.
The system now uses Keystone ID, with allows users to log onto multiple services with the same username and password. Users will no longer need the UC Personal Identification Number that was used for filing biweekly benefits online. A big change in the system is that it moves to weekly filings and not biweekly.
If an individual chooses weekly benefits via phone, they’ll still need a PIN and according to the state’s website, you can start doing so on June 10th.
A new rule has been put into place with this new system where individuals will have to prove they are looking for work.
The new software is replacing a system that is 40-years-old. Officials expect the new system to be faster.
No new claims could be filed from June 3rd until today.
