A large number of Butler County residents will benefit from a new state tax credit beginning next year.
Modeled after the federal Earned Income Tax Credit, and part of the recently passed state budget, the Working Pennsylvanians Tax Credit is now law.
This state level tax credit is equal to 10% of the federal credit and will be applied automatically by the state Department of Revenue for anyone who qualifies for the federal credit.
In Butler County, it is estimated that over 9,000 residents will qualify for a reduction of up to $800, totaling $1.6 million returned to taxpayers.
