The Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs has launched a new initiative to address veteran suicide.
The DMVA received a $143,000 investment to work with partner agencies to host regional Lethal Means Safety events that will discuss safety planning and ‘reasons for living’ artifact workshops.
Along with the workshops the DMVA will be able to expand on federal and state prevention efforts such as, digital pistol vaults, handgun cases, and gun case locks.
This added funding comes from the Byrne SCIP which was established under the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act in 2022 and is administered federally through the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance.
