NFL Wild Card playoffs:
Saturday–
–Indianapolis defeated Houston 21-7. The Colts meet the top-seeded Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round Saturday at 4:35pm.
–Dallas defeated Seattle 24-22. The Cowboys will visit the Los Angeles Rams Saturday at 8:15pm.
Sunday–
–The Los Angeles Chargers defeated the Baltimore Ravens 23-17. The Chargers will visit the New England Patriots Sunday at 1:05pm.
–The defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Chicago Bears 17-16. The Eagles will travel to face the New Orleans Saint Sunday at 4:40pm.
The College Football Playoff national championship game will be played tonight in Santa Clara, California. Alabama faces Clemson. Both teams are 14-0. Kick-off is 8pm. The game is being televised on ESPN. This is the fourth consecutive year for the two teams to meet in the national title game or semi-finals.
Tonight’s winner will be the first team to finish a season 15-0 at the top level of college football since the University of Pennsylvania did so in 1887.
A victory by Alabama would give head coach Nick Saban his seventh national championship, breaking a tie with former ‘Bama coach Bear Bryant for most all-time.
North Dakota State defeated Eastern Washington 38-24 to claim a record seventh FCS title. The team said goodbye to head coach Chris Klieman who takes over at Kansas State after going 69-6 and four FCS titles over five years at North Dakota State.
West Virginia has hired Neal Brown as their new head football coach. The 38-year old Brown led Troy to a 35-16 overall record over the past four seasons. His team has also won three bowl games in a row and the 2017 Sun Belt Conference title. He will replace Dana Holgrosen who left for Houston last week.
