With extra decorations around many houses, the holiday season is an important time to take special care when it comes to fire safety.
According to the National Fire Protection Association, December is the peak time for chances of home fires caused by cooking and candles.
Trees should be watered daily to reduce the rate at which they dry out and become more flammable. Many decoration fires involve candles or other heating equipment.
