NHL PLAYOFFS: Results from first-round playoff games yesterday:
–The Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 2-1. Tampa Bay leads series 3 games to 1.
–The Boston Bruins edged the Carolina Hurricanes 4-3. The Bruins scored all four goals in the third period to take a 3-1 series lead.
–The Colorado Avalanche defeated the Arizona Coyotes 7-1. Colorado leads series 3 games to 1.
–The defending Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues evened their series with the Vancouver Canucks after a 3-1. That series is now tied at 2-2.
NBA First Round opening games:
–Denver defeated Utah 135-125 in overtime.
–Toronto defeated Brooklyn 134-110.
–Boston defeated Philadelphia 109-101.
–The Los Angeles Clippers defeated Dallas 118-110.
