The NHL draft begins tonight in Las Vegas with the First Round selections. The event will be televised on ESPN beginning at 7pm. The Pittsburgh Penguins have no selection tonight. Rounds 2-through-7 will begin at 11am Saturday.
Colorado Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon was the big winner at Thursday’s NHL awards show, taking home the Hart Memorial Trophy as the league’s MVP and the Ted Lindsay Award as the league’s most outstanding player as decided by the NHL Players Association. Former Pittsburgh Penguins coach and player Rick Tocchet received the Jack Adams Award as the NHL’s coach of the year. He led the Canucks to the Pacific Division title.
