A bill that would ban the use of cell phones in school is taking another step forward.
The proposed legislation would prohibit cell phones “bell-to-bell” during the school day.
Under the bill, districts would be required to create their own policy on enforcement, but the standard would be that students can’t use their cell phone in school.
The bill passed through the State Senate Education Committee with unanimous support.
It now heads to the full Senate for consideration.
