Butler County officially approved next year’s budget.
The final budget includes an $84.6 million general fund and $249.8 million total budget.
There were no new taxes.
There were some slight revisions in the final budget, compared to what was proposed last month.
The prior year fund balance carryover is now at $8.9 million, which is down about $150,000. There is also a nearly $150,000 increase in expected revenues.
County commissioners say this year’s budget was difficult to put together and cautioned that budgets in the future will continue to be challenging. Commissioners cited a combination of flat state funding, along with rising costs in salaries and benefits as the main reason for higher expenses.
