The 2021-22 Butler Area School District budget still has some questions but does not include a tax increase.
During a school board meeting Monday night, the final budget of nearly $106 million passed by unanimous vote with local tax rates remaining stable at just over 104 mils.
The district’s enrollment sits around 6,500 students and although this budget does not include any substantive changes from the preliminary budget presented last month, there will be reductions in some permanent positions as well as a large number of temporary positions.
The district will receive nearly $19 million total in one-time federal relief funding with at least a portion dedicated to mitigating learning loss. Additional federal money will be used to cover post-retirement benefit cost liabilities as well as school reorganization expenses.
This is the second consecutive year the district will not raise local tax rates after increasing the rate by 3 mils in 2019.
