The Knoch School Board will not increase taxes as part of the budget for the 2025-26 school year.
During the Wednesday night school board meeting, board members approved a preliminary general fund budget of just over $39.9 million which is an increase of about $200,000 compared to the current year.
District administrators say there will be an anticipated deficit of just over $650,000. There will also be a decrease in salaries of over $500,000 partially realized by not filling all 12 teacher retirements and partly by “right-sizing” classes to optimize the student to teacher ratio. The cost of benefits continues to increase. Knoch has not increased their tax millage since 2017.
The proposed budget will now be posted for public review on the district’s website for 30 days. Residents are encouraged to provide feedback before a final vote is taken on next year’s budget in June.
