Norfolk Southern has announced today they have agreed to a $600 million settlement with a class action lawsuit filled against the company after last year’s train derailment.
Those who could see compensation include all class action claims within a 20-mile radius and those who want to participate in the personal injury claims within a 10-mile radius of the derailment.
Individuals with in the 10-mile radius could also see further compensation that includes medical monitoring, property restoration, and compensation for any net business loss.
The agreement has no mention of Norfolk Southern admitting any wrong doing, admission of liability, or fault. The settlement still needs to approved by a U.S. District Court before being finalized.
