A North Carolina man is facing charges in Butler County after he attempted to steal the information of a relative.
On June 12, Cranberry Police received a call from 42-year-old Ryan Keitzer of Charlotte who claimed to be investigating a fraud claim.
Keitzer claimed that a 78-year-old male living in Liberty Township Mercer County had reported fraud in Cranberry Township. To finish the investigation Keitzer asked police in Cranberry to interview the alleged victim and help provide banking records.
As police investigated the accusation police allege Keitzer of lying because the alleged victim didn’t report any fraud. Police instead accuse Keitzer of fabricating his identity and intentions in an effort to have police obtain personal records and information for him.
He’s been charged with Obstructing the administration of law and Impersonating a public servant, he’s awaiting a preliminary hearing.
