High School Sports:
–The Knoch girls basketball team defeated Belle Vernon 66-44 last night in their WPIAL Class 4A Consolation game. The Knights had four players in double scoring figures, led by Hattie McGraw with 15. They will host Beaver Thursday.
Beaver defeated Elizabeth Forward 57-52 last night.
–The North Catholic boys defeated Laurel Highlands 74-59 last night in the Class 4A Semifinals. Andrew Maddalon led North Catholic with 25 points. The Trojans have reached the WPIAL championship game for the seventh time since 2009. They will meet Lincoln Park in the title game Friday night at the Petersen Events Center. Tip-off is 9pm.
Lincoln Park defeated Highlands 87-64 last night in the other Class 4A Semifinal.
–The North Catholic girls will meet Highlands tonight in the Class 4A Semifinals. Tip-off is 6pm at Gateway high school.
–The Mars girls extended their season with a 36-33 win over Hampton in a Class 5A Consolation game played in Saxonburg. They will travel to Trinity Thursday.
–The Mars boys play South Fayette tonight in the 5A Consolation Round. Tip-off is 8pm at Hampton high school.
–The North Allegheny girls defeated Norwin 38-36 in the Class 6A Semifinals. The Tigers will meet Upper St. Clair for the title Friday at 7pm, also at The Petersen Events Center.
