Notre Dame won a College Football Playoff semifinal thriller 27-24 over Penn State last night in the Orange Bowl played in Florida. The Nittany Lions scored the first ten points of the game before the Fighting Irish hit a field goal at the end of the first half. Notre Dame would score 17 unanswered points, taking a 17-10 lead in the fourth quarter. But, Penn State came back with two touchdowns of their own. Notre Dame tied the game with just under five minutes remaining in the game, and hit a game-winning field goal with seven seconds remaining after picking off a Drew Allar pass in the final minute.
The Fighting Irish held all Penn State wide receivers without a positive-yardage catch in the game.
Notre Dame awaits the winner of tonight’s Ohio State-Texas Cotton Bowl game, who will play for the national championship January 20th. Kick-off tonight is 7:30pm on ESPN
