Butler County is currently projected to see between 8 to 15 inches of snow this weekend, but what makes this storm so powerful?
According to Colton Milcarek a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, this one just has all the right ingredients.
“There’s a lot of forecast factors that we look at but all three dimensions of cold air, moisture, and lift in the atmosphere make it perfect conditions,” Milcarek said.
But the snow will not be the end of the challenging weather conditions as more cold air moves into the area right shortly after this storm.
“There are pretty good chances of well below average temperatures long after the snow departs,” Micarek said. “Make sure that you keep track of the forecast even after the snow is over, because the snow and ice is probably going to stick around. And there might be some cold air impact.”
