As many get ready for Fourth of July celebrations tonight and tomorrow, Butler County Emergency officials are reminding people to be careful.
Officials say that it’s important to keep some safety tips in mind whenever lighting fireworks this time of year.
- Use extreme caution all the time, but especially when it is windy.
- Store the fireworks in a cool and dry location away from kids.
- Don not make any alterations to fireworks.
- Always have a water supply or fire extinguisher near you.
- Never smoke or consume alcohol when lighting fireworks.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, over 10,000 people were injured in the United States last year due to a fireworks-related accident.
