An Ohio based grocer has made a huge purchase in Pennsylvania.
Kroger has purchased Giant Eagle for a whopping $1.65 billion, $1.25 billion in cash with $400 million in liabilities.
Giant Eagle will still use their current branding and there are no plans to close stores or eliminate jobs in stores.
In statement released by Kroger they said they expect “a limited number of store divestitures as part of the standard regulatory review process.”
The transaction is expected to close in 2027.
