One person was shot and killed by state police after a chase that started in Butler County ended in Allegheny County this weekend.
According to our news partners WPXI-TV, State Police were chasing a vehicle with four people in it on I-79 southbound when it flipped over near the Camp Horne Road (Exit 8) Interchange before 8 p.m. on Saturday.
After the vehicle flipped over two times, shots were fired, and that is what led to officers firing shots.
It’s unknown why police were chasing the vehicle and the people involved have not been identified.
All four people were taken to the hospital after the crash and shooting, the person who was shot later died at the hospital.
No officers were injured in the shooting.
The investigation into the shooting and chase are ongoing.
The road was closed around 9 p.m. Saturday and reopened around 4 a.m. Sunday.
