The number of residents in long term care facilities who have received the COVID-19 vaccine is continuing to increase.
Governor Tom Wolf provided an update earlier this week and said that the federal partnership with pharmacies had reached a significant milestone.
“Walgreens has completed first dose vaccinations at close to 100 locations. CVS has completed first and second dose at all their participating skilled nursing facilities, which is more than 500 facilities in Pennsylvania,” Wolf said.
Wolf says about 315,000 doses have been provided to these facilities since the vaccination distribution began.
“This is an important milestone for Pennsylvania, and it marks key progress in ensuring that our most vulnerable residents have access to a vaccine,” Gov. Wolf said. “Skilled nursing, personal care, and assisted living facilities have been hit hard by the pandemic, which is why this milestone is such an important one for us to recognize – because it shows how far we have come in protecting our most vulnerable residents.”
