A number of Butler County municipalities have been chosen to receive millions in state funding for improvement projects.
According to State Representatives, the Commonwealth Financing Authority has approved a $500,000 grant for storm sewer installation in Zelienople along with an over $400,000 Local Share Account grant awarded to Concord Township to make a major addition to its equipment garage. Adams Township Municipal Water Authority will also collect $400,000 to extend a water line along Harbison and Forsythe Roads.
Cranberry Township will receive $250,000 towards the construction of a recreation center with an additional $250,000 in Local Share Account funding to Buffalo Township to make municipal building improvements. Over $230,000 will go to Oakland Township to purchase a tractor and accessories while over $220,000 will be used to purchase a wheel loader in Clearfield Township.
This program targets economic growth using online gaming revenue.
Also, the CFA is also providing nearly $220,000 in Local Share Account grant funding to purchase a skid loader and mini excavator in Donegal Township, $200,000 will go to Slippery Rock Township for an excavator and attachments, and over $120,000 for Saxonburg Borough to purchase a police cruiser and backup generator for use by the police.
Over $210,000 will go to Mercer Township to purchase a new tractor and boom mower attachment while over $150,000 will be used to purchase a backhoe in Parker Township, and another $150,000 has been allotted to Clay Township for a soil compactor.
Mars Borough, Jackson Township, and Harmony Borough will each collect $100,000 for stormwater improvements, modernizing the EMS building, and purchasing a plow truck respectively while Evans City Borough will collect a combined $250,000 to accomplish several projects including improvements at EDCO Park.
The Slippery Rock Municipal Authority will receive over $115,000 to purchase a new excavator, nearly $80,000 has been awarded to Harrisville Borough for a winter maintenance pickup truck, and just over $73,000 is going to Chicora Borough for the purchase of a 300-gallon vacuum trailer. Eau Clair Borough will collect nearly $70,000 to outfit a tractor used for mowing and snow plowing.
