Pennsylvania American Water is beginning construction on a project to upgrade sewage lines near Alameda Park.
Officials say they will be replacing 3,700 feet of wastewater lines with larger, and more reliable lines, to improve flow and reduce stormwater infiltration. The main work is taking place in the lower Alameda Park, which will result in closing the Alameda Trail.
The work will also upgrade 20 new manholes and complete work under Route 422 without disturbing traffic.
Major construction should wrap up by this spring; the entire project will be done by June of next year.
The upgrades are part of the agreement of the BASA sale last year.
