Governor Tom Wolf has announced that all kindergarten through 12th grade schools in the state of Pennsylvania will be closed for 10 business days beginning Monday.
The state will continue to monitor and reevaluate how the coronavirus impacts different communities then decide if a continued closure is needed. Wolf also said that no district will be penalized for failing to meet the 180 day or school hours requirements.
Western Pennsylvania school districts North Hills, North Allegheny, Fox Chapel, and Armstrong along with all Beaver County School Districts were among the first to announce that classes would be suspended for a period of at least two weeks.
According to a letter from the superintendent of the Armstrong School District, two credible cases of potential COVID-19 in a “neighboring area” were identified by officials with ACMH Hospital.
