A group of lawmakers from Pennsylvania are continuing to call for the release of a Butler native from a Russian prison.
Marc Fogel has been serving a 14 year sentence in a hard labor camp since August 2021, after he was found carrying a half-ounce of medicinal marijuana for a back injury.
Recently, Congressmen Mike Kelly was joined by colleagues of both parties in the House as well as Senators Bob Casey and John Fetterman, in sending a letter to Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
The letter encourages the State Department to designate Fogel as “wrongfully detained.” Lawmakers also say that any swap of prisoners between the United States and Russia should include Fogel.
