A Pennsylvania native became the first rookie in major league baseball history to hit four home runs in a game. Athletics first baseman Nick Kurtz is from the Lancaster area and finished last night’s (Friday, July 25) game against Houston with six hits, scored six runs and drove in eight. He had 19 total bases in the game to tie a record set by Shawn Green of the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2002. Kurtz went to Manheim Township high school in eastern Pennsylvania.
He was a first round selection by the A’s in 2024 – and made his major league debut in April of this season after just 32 total games in the minor leagues.
