The New York Islanders defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3 in a shootout last night. The loss ended a Penguins two-game winning streak. The Islanders came back from a 3-1 deficit in the third period and forced overtime, which was scoreless. Sidney Crosby scored a goal for the third consecutive game. It was his 598th career goal. Evgeni Malkin and Michael Bunting scored the other Penguins goals in regulation. The Islanders Bo Horvat scored the only shootout goal. Sidney Crosby, Rickard Rakell and Kris Letang were held scoreless in the shootout.
The Pens play back-to-back games Thursday and Friday. They visit Carolina tomorrow night at 7pm.
