The Edmonton Oilers defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 6-4 last night at PPG Paints Arena. Leon Draisaitl had four assists for the Oilers and became the fourth-fastest active player in NHL history to reach 1,000 career points. He is also the first German-born player to reach that career mark. Connor McDavid scored twice for Edmonton and goaltender Tristan Jarry stopped 26 of 30 shots against his former team. Stuart Skinner made his debut for the Penguins, and stopped just 17 of 22 shots. It was the Penguins sixth loss in a row.
Sidney Crosby had an assist in the game, and is now one point away from tying Mario Lemieux’s franchise record for career points.
The Penguins lost all five of their games of their home-stand, allowing an average of five goals per game. They fell in overtime twice, and lost one game via a shoot-out. It is the first time in team history the Penguins failed to win a game on such a lengthy run of home games.
The Penguins visit Ottawa Thursday before a home-and-home series with Montreal Saturday and Sunday.
