The Pittsburgh Penguins came from behind in the third period and defeated the Los Angeles Kings 3-2 in overtime last night. Rickard Rakell scored the game-winner on a pass from Erik Karlsson. It was his 14th goal of the season. The Pens survived allowing the Kings an opening goal :30-seconds into the game last night.
The victory moved the Penguins into fourth place in the Metropolitan Division, and would currently put them in a playoff spot. The Pens visit the Nashville Predators tomorrow night for an 8pm face-off. Nashville defeated the New York Rangers 2-0 last night, but they have the worst point total in the NHL, and that was just their ninth win of the season.
Since a three game losing streak a month ago, the Penguins have won seven of their last 10 games. After their trip to Nashville, the Pens will head into the final days of the year 2024 with four games against division opponents. They visit the first-place New Jersey Devils, host Philadelphia and have a home-and-home series with the New York Islanders next weekend.
