The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 6-3 last night at PPG Paints Arena. Six different Penguins scored goals in the game and the Pens went 3-for-4 on power plays. Sidney Crosby scored one of the power play goals, his 25th goal of the season. Evgeni Malkin and Tommy Novak added two assists each. Stuart Skinner stopped 30 of 33 shots and held the Flyers 0-for-4 on power plays.
Crosby reached the 50-point mark for the 19th season during the game — tying Wayne Gretzky and Alex Ovechkin for sixth all time. Ron Francis and Gordie Howe share the record with 22 seasons.
The victory moved the Penguins into third place in the Metropolitan Division. They will host the Columbus Blue Jackets Saturday at 7pm. WISR pre-game is 6:30pm.
The Penguins head to Seattle Monday to begin a four-game road trip, which includes three games in Canada.
