The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the New York Rangers 3-2 last night at PPG Paints Arena. Evgeni Malkin and Bryan Rust scored second period power play goals for the Pens. Sidney Crosby scored his 18th goal of the season in the third period. Tristan Jarry stopped 26 of 28 shots and extended his winning streak to seven games.
Malkin extended his point streak to nine games and tied Sergei Federov for the second-most points in NHL history among Russian-born players. Malkin now trails only Alex Ovechkin of Washington.
The Penguins have now won 15 of their last 20 games and moved into third place in the Metropolitan Division. The Pens will host the Carolina Hurricanes tomorrow night.
