The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Boston Bruins 4-0 last night at PPG Paints Arena. Jake Guentzel scored a hat trick and reached the 40-goal plateau for the second time in his career. Goaltender Casey DeSmith stopped all 52 shots by the Bruins, setting a Penguins record for most saves in a team shutout. Jason Zucker scored the other Penguins goal.
The Pens moved back in front of Washington by two points with the victory. They now have 99 points for the season.
The New York Rangers and Carolina Hurricanes remain tied for the Metropolitan Division lead after both posted wins last night. They have 108 points each.
The Penguins will play back-to-back road games this weekend, when they visit the Detroit Red Wings for a 12:30pm, face-off Saturday. WISR pre-game will begin after the noon news. Sunday – the Pens visit the Philadelphia Flyers for a 4pm start. Pre-game on WISR will begin at 3:30pm.
The Pens will host Edmonton Tuesday, and complete their regular season next Friday at home against Columbus.
