The Pittsburgh Penguins signed veteran defenseman Sebastian Aho to a two-year deal yesterday. The five-year NHL vet has played his whole career with the New York Islanders. Aho will earn $775,000 per year.
Penguins radio play-by-play announcer Steve Mears is leaving the broadcast booth in Pittsburgh. Mears announced yesterday that he will be joining the Columbus Blue Jackets television broadcasts. Mears moved to the radio booth last year after the Penguins swapped in former radio announcer Josh Getzoff to the television side.
The official schedule for next year has been released for the Penguins. Opening night is set for October 9th in Pittsburgh against the New York Rangers.
