The Pittsburgh Penguins have traded Derick Brassard, Riley Sheahan and three draft picks to Florida for wingers Nick Bjugstad and Jared McCann. The 26-year old Bjugstad had five goals and 12 points in 32 games this season for the Panthers. He brings a big presence at 6’6″ and is currently in his sixth year in the NHL. The 21-year old McCann is already in his fourth NHL season. He had eight goals and 18 points with Florida in 46 games. Both are former #1 draft picks.
Brassard had nine goals and 15 points for the Penguins this season, and was long rumored to be on the trading block. Sheahan has seven goals this season. Both are unrestricted free agents after this season.
