The Pittsburgh Penguins will open their 2020-2021 training camp on Sunday at PPG Paints Arena.
This season will be reduced to 56 games, which is 16 games less than a traditional season. At this time, officials expect the season to end around May 8th and for the playoffs to start around May 11th. The last day for the Stanley Cup Finals is expected to be around July 9th.
The Penguins’ first game is set for January 13th against the Philadelphia Flyers. Faceoff on January 13th is tentatively set for 5:30pm.
Officials also announced on Sunday that the team has resigned defenseman John Marino to a six year contract extension. The new agreement will continue through the 2026-2027 season, and has an average annual value of $4.4million.
