Penn State is looking at closing seven branch campuses as part of a system-wide restructuring plan.
There were three campuses in the Pittsburgh region that were named in a plan released by the university this week—Fayette, New Kensington, and Shenango.
Also included in the proposed closures includes DuBois, Mont Alto, Wikes-Barre, and York.
According to school officials they will keep the campuses in Beaver and Greater Allegheny open.
The campuses would not close right away if the plan is adopted. The earliest the closures would happen is the spring 2027.
