PennDOT announced yesterday that the department will use existing photos on file for customers who renew their driver’s license or photo ID card online or through the mail.
You will not get a camera card that you have to take to a driver’s license or photo center, only a few of which have reopened at this point.
There are some details to the new policy however. If you renewed your product on or before May 10, you will still receive a camera card in the mail and will need to visit a center.
PennDOT also says expiration dates on driver’s licenses and learner’s permits scheduled to expire from March 16 through May 31 have been extended through June 30.
The PennDOT driver’s license center at the Point Plaza in Butler is still closed; the nearest centers that have reopened are located in New Castle and Mercer.
