A couple of local municipalities have been awarded state grants to improve local traffic conditions.
Center Township will receive over $547,000 in grants through the PennDOT Automated Red Light Enforcement program. The money will be used to replace the traffic signal equipment at the intersection of Route 8 and Summit Road Clearview Mall Access B.
Also, Penn Township has been selected to receive nearly $627,000 to install a traffic signal at the intersection of Route 8 and Brownsdale Road/Church Road.
A total of 44 municipalities across the state received a combined over $27 million to fund 51 safety projects. Grant funding is received from red light violation fines with a goal of improving regional safety.
