The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is beginning a couple road projects around the Butler County area this week.
The first project involves the closure of the Freedom Road Turnpike bridge in Cranberry Township beginning at 10 p.m. tonight and continuing through 6 a.m. Monday morning. Freedom Road from Executive Drive to Commonwealth Drive will be closed to all vehicular traffic and detours will be posted. Motorists should expect delays.
Also, PennDOT will be closing Kittanning Street in Butler at the railroad crossing beginning Saturday until Monday. Crews from Frontier Railroad will be working to replace tracks and railroad ties. A detour will be posted that will direct motorists from East Jefferson Street to Route 422 to Mitchell Hill Road.
