As millions of drivers get ready for the summer travel season, law enforcement is placing an increased awareness on safe driving.
PennDOT and the state police are working with local authorities in participating in the National “Click It or Ticket” enforcement mobilization this week.
This means law enforcement will be conducting roving patrols, traffic enforcement zones, and speed enforcement details on roads with high rates of crashes. Officials say there were nearly 12,000 crashes in Pennsylvania last year where at least one person was not wearing a seatbelt—resulting in 354 fatalities.
Over last Memorial Day Weekend, state police cited over a thousand drivers for not wearing a seatbelt while driving. More holiday travel information is available on the 511PA website as well as PennDOT’s social media pages.
