Pennsylvania’s top law enforcement official has reached a deal with a giant tech company for how data is collected and used.
Attorney General Josh Shapiro and 39 other attorneys general reached the nearly $392 million agreement with Google.
The suit is centered on location tracking practices connected to Google Account settings. Google collects location data which can be used to expose identity, routines, and other personal details for advertisers.
This agreement requires Google to give consumers more transparency in practices such as not hiding information about location tracking. Pennsylvania will receive nearly $20 million as part of this settlement.
