Pennsylvania scored its biggest month ever in the amount of money placed in sports bets.
According to the latest data, a record $776 million were bet during October on sports. Experts say the five weekends of football, along with postseason baseball and the beginning of the NBA and NHL spurred the surge in bets.
With October also marking the third anniversary of legalized sports gambling, Pennsylvania has now surpassed $10 billion in lifetime wagers. That equates to $766 million in gross revenue and $192 million in state taxes.
