The New York Islanders defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3 in overtime last night. The Penguins had a 3-1 lead after two periods, but allowed New York to score two unanswered goals in the third period. The Islanders pulled their goaltender late in regulation and scored the game-tying goal with just over a minute remaining, then scored the game-winner two minutes into the extra period.
The win moved the Islanders to 76 points. The Pens have 74 points, four more than the Florida Panthers in the Wild Card playoff chase.
The Pens have back-to-back weekend games at PPG Paints Arena. First up will be the Philadelphia Flyers Saturday afternoon. Face-off is 3:30pm. (WISR will join the broadcast following Knoch playoff basketball.)
