The Philadelphia Flyers defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 6-3 in the season opening game Wednesday. Sidney Crosby, Brandon Tanev and Mark Jankowski scored the Pens goals. Jankowski had two points in his Pittsburgh debut.
The Flyers broke open a 3-3 game in third period with three straight goals.
Tristan Jarry in his first start as the Pens new #1 goaltender stopped just 19 of 25 shots.
The Pens and Flyers play again Friday night in Philadelphia.
The Pens return home following tomorrow night’s game and will host Washington Sunday.
The Pens game was one of five games to open the new NHL season. Toronto came back from a two-goal deficit to defeat Montreal 5-4 in overtime. Vancouver defeated Edmonton 5-3. St. Louis defeated Colorado 4-1.
