The Pittsburgh Penguins lost to the Buffalo Sabres 4-2 Sunday afternoon. Jason Zucker and Teddy Blueger scored third period goals for the Pens. Casey DeSmith stopped 25 of 28 shots. Buffalo had an empty-net goal in the final two minutes of the game.
The loss was the first in six games with the Sabres this season. The Pens had defeated Buffalo 3-2 Saturday afternoon. The Pens fell back to third place in the East Division after the New York Islanders defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 1-0 in overtime Sunday. They are one point behind New York, and three points behind first-place Washington. The Capitals lost to Boston 6-3 Sunday.
The Pens open a five-game home-stand Tuesday when they host New Jersey for the first of three consecutive games with the Devils.
