The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Minnesota Wild 6-3 last night at PPG Paints Arena. Dominick Simon and Evgeni Malkin both scored two goals, and Sidney Crosby had three assists. He did not get a goal, and remains at 399 for his career. The Pens were 2-for-2 on the power play and held Minnesota 1-for-5. Goaltender Casey DeSmith played for the fourth consecutive game, and held Minnesota scoreless until midway through the third period. He was then knicked for three goals in three minutes.
The victory gave the Penguins 57 points, and boosted them into a second-place tie with Columbus in the Metropolitan Division. The Pens are off until Tuesday for the NHL All-Star Break.
