The New York Rangers shut-out the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-0 last night at Madison Square Garden. Captain Sidney Crosby missed the game due to illness. The Pens outshot the Rangers 30-23, but couldn’t find the back of the net. It was the Penguins third loss in a row, and they have now lost six of their last eight games.
With Crosby out of the lineup last night, Filip Hallander was called up from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and made his NHL debut. In 53 games with the Baby Penguins this year, he has 10 goals and 24 points.
Also last night, Carolina defeated Buffalo 5-3, the Hurricanes have now hit the 100-point mark this season. They lead the Rangers by two points in the Metro Division. The Pens are now six points behind the Rangers with 10 games remaining in the regular season.
The Pens will host back-to-back games this weekend.
They host the Washington Capitals for a 3pm face-off Saturday. WISR pre-game is 2:30pm.
The Pens host Nashville Sunday. Face-off is 4pm, with the WISR pre-game at 3:30pm.
