The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Washington Capitals 3-2 in overtime last night. Kasperi Kapenen scored the game-winning goal for the Pens.
Evgeni Malkin scored his fourth goal of the season, Jake Guentzel added his sixth. Tristan Jarry stopped 20 of 22 shots in net.
It was the third victory in a row for the Pens, who moved into a third-place tie with the New York Islanders in the East Division. Washington remains in second place by one point over the Pens and Islanders.
The Pens lost winger Jason Zucker to a leg injury in the third period.
The Pens visit the Capitals again on Thursday.
