The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the New Jersey Devils 7-6 last night at PPG Paints Arena. The Pens had built a 6-0 lead through two periods, before the Devils mounted a comeback. The Pens became the first NHL team to win a game in which they were outscored by five goals in the final period.
The Pens had seven different goal-scorers in the game, including Sidney Crosby who netted his 18th of the season. Newly acquired Jeff Carter scored his first goal in a Penguins uniform. Tristan Jarry went from shutting New Jersey out for the first two periods, to stopping just 24 of 30 shots.
The two teams match up again Thursday night at PPG Paints Arena.
The New York Islanders defeated the New York Rangers 6-1 last night and have tied the Washington Capitals for first place in the East Division. The Pens are one point back.
