The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the New York Islanders 5-4 last night in a wild game at Nassau Coliseum on Long Island. Jeff Carter led the Pens with two goals and Brandon Tanev scored the game-winner with just over three minutes remaining in the game. 14 different players received penalties during the third period, with a total of five goals scored in the period.
The Pens took a 2-1 series lead and they two teams play in Game 4 Saturday at 3pm. Hear the game on WISR beginning at 2:30pm.
Last night’s game saw the return of Evgeni Malkin from a knee injury for the first time in the series. He had two assists.

–Florida defeated Tampa Bay 6-5 in overtime to cut into the Lightning’s lead in the series to 2-1.
–The Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Minnesota Wild 5-2 to take a 2-1 series lead.
–Montreal opened their series with Toronto with a 2-1 win.
Maple Leafs captain John Tavares, a former Islander, was removed from the ice on a stretcher after an on-ice collision.
